Directorate of Accreditation

The Albanian Accreditation Directorate (DA) is recognised by the Albanian Government as the single National Accreditation Body to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organizations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.

DA is public authority under the Minister of Economy Trade and Energy and exercises its activity pursuant to Law no.9024 dated on 06/03/2003 “On Accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories, certification and inspection bodies in Republic of Albania”.

DA operates a management system in line with the requirements of S SH ISO/IEC 17011 (Conformity Assessment General Requirements for accreditation conformity assessment bodies).

Also DA has the task to provide advice to State Administration in matters concerning accreditation and other assessments and approvals of competence for carrying out conformity assessment procedures and maintaining, update and gives the information on the status of accreditation of the accredited bodies.

DA representing of Republic of Albania at International organizations on the accreditation area and Cooperation with national accreditation bodies in other countries in order to achieve membership in regional or international mutual recognition agreements or to achieve bilateral agreements.

Advisory Board of DA

The Advisory Board support DA and other public authority in accreditation field. This board is composed of minimum 16 members. The representation of the board’s members is balanced with the participation of all interested parties. 6 representative’s members of the board are elected by Ministries responsible for, economy and trade, agriculture and food, environmental issues, construction and transport, health and safety at work.2 representatives are elected by the professional associations of testing and calibration laboratories, 1 representative from the standardization institution, 1 representative from the metrology institution, 2 representatives from business organizations, 2 representatives from associations of consumer protection, and 2 representatives from scientific institutions.

DA has the responsibility for the organization and the tasks of the Accreditation Board. The regulation of the functioning of accreditation’s advisory board, the criteria for selecting board members and their approval for a three-year period are approved by the Minister responsible for the trade and economy.

International Co-operation

On 1-th February 2007 DA sign the contract of cooperation with EA European Co-operation for Accreditation. This status gives DA the rights to take part in all TC’s and GA’s meetings and to give suggestions and comments for documents proposed by EA, and other organizations and accreditation bodies. Albanian Directorate of Accreditation is associated member in ILAC. Also DA is member of IAF (International Accreditation Forum). In regional aspect, DA have memorandum of co-operation with our homologous institution in Greece, Rumania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Turkey.

Tariffs for accreditation of additional analysis:
If the number of analysis for which the accreditation is being sought is less then 5 , the tariffs are 1000 lekë for each analysis.
If the number of analysis for which the accreditation is being sought is more then 5 then the tariffs are 5000 lekë.
* Note: The tariffs for the use of accreditation symbol is an annual tariffs of 5% of annual revenues realized from the accredited body during the year for services rendered to third parties and for which he has been accredited.
